ANIMAL TOTEM'S

Animal Totems are amazing guides. Some stay with us throughout our life and some come and go.

The totems that stays with us will be strong and in the forefront at times and then we will not see or hear from them for awhile but they are always there. Ready to support and guide us as needed. This would be your power totem animal. You will usually feel an infinite connection with a particular animal.

Some will come with a message and stay for awhile maybe even a few years. But they will only stay present as you recognize and connect with them. Some will come in and deliver the message and leave just like a little squirrel did.  See my squirrel story under My Animal Messages.

The best way to connect with your totems is to study the animal. Watch it in nature, go to the library and look on the internet. Give them a place of honor in your life. Draw pictures, take pictures, leave food, wear jewelry, collect there feathers or write a poem. These things will help you to stay connected and understand the message or lesson this particular animal can give. Find out what they eat and study that as well. Start asking questions and looking for answers: Are they nocturnal? Do they fly or burrow under the ground? Do they live alone or in a family? What climate do they live in?

As you study your totem use that knowledge and apply it to your life.

One of my strong totems is an Owl and if I find myself in a situation I ask how would an Owl react to this? Once I was angry at a person and I didn’t know how to handle it. I spent some time meditating on the Owl and I started screeching and Hooting. I realized the Owl wouldn’t put up with intrusions of any sort or its life would be lacking in some sort of way. The screeching and Hooting helped me to release my anger and focus. I was then able to approach the person in a calm manner and resolve the situation swiftly and effectively.

You can act out your totems to get a clearer perspective on how to handle situations. Now I suggest you do this alone. Growling, barking ans screeching in public would then cause another situation to defuse.
